The article failed to mention that the first ammendment also protects the right to assembly and to petition. I also don't think the article is incredibly well done because it didn't survey students who have taken a government, history, or civics course, just high school students. The purpose of school is to educate, but it is wrong to assume that every high school student has studied the first ammendment. Some have, and some will. As well, the article asked if they believed the government should have control, not if it was legal or possible. Nonetheless, pretty interesting. I personally think there is such a thing as crossing the line in journalism, but, that it is up to the readers, not the governemnt to decide. The readers should be what keeps the journalist from making poor decisions in the sense that they accept or reject what he/she has written.
How come nobody I know ever takes these surveys?
